About AvA Type 1
AvA Type 1 is an educational simulation app designed to help children ages 6-12 learn about Type 1 Diabetes management. It is not a medical device and does not provide real medical data. All glucose readings, insulin doses, and carbohydrate values displayed in the app are simulated for educational purposes only.
Information We Collect
We do not collect any personal information. Specifically:
- No personal data - We do not collect names, email addresses, or any identifying information.
- No health data - The app simulates glucose values for education. No real health data is collected, stored, or transmitted.
- No analytics or tracking - We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising frameworks, or tracking technologies.
- No third-party data sharing - No data is shared with third parties because no data is collected.
Data Stored on Your Device
The app stores the following preferences locally on your device using standard iOS storage (UserDefaults). This data never leaves your device:
- Selected visual theme
- Education progress (completed topics, quiz results)
- Simulation settings (speed, sensitivity preferences)
- Onboarding completion status
Bluetooth
The app includes an optional Bluetooth feature to connect to a companion stuffed animal accessory (ESP32-based). Bluetooth is used solely for sending simulated glucose status to the companion device. No data is transmitted to the internet or any external service. Bluetooth is not required to use the app.
Children's Privacy
AvA Type 1 is designed for children ages 6-12 and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not collect any personal information from children or any other users. The app does not require account creation, login, or any form of registration.
Third-Party Services
The app does not integrate any third-party services, SDKs, or APIs. It functions entirely offline and on-device.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated effective date.
